About 100 golfers showed up at North Hempstead Country Club in Port Washington recently for the Second Annual Americana Mortgage Group Golf Tournament to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York.

Organizer and host of the event, was Bob Moulton, founder and president of Americana Mortgage Group, a Manhasset-based mortgage company. Since becoming a wish father in 1998 when his daughter Kelly was granted her wish to meet Cinderella by the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Bob Moulton has turned outward to help other wish families. This year's outing raised more than $44,000. To date, this event has generated more than $87,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York.

According to Patricia Clemency, president and CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York, "We are grateful to Bob Moulton for this continuing commitment to our special children and are pleased that he has taken his involvement one step further by becoming a member of the Advisory Board this June."

Beginning with the brunch and ending with a cocktail reception, the event offered a variety of sponsorship opportunities to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. The highlight of the event was hearing Bob Moulton's daughter and Make-A-Wish recipient, Kelly Moulton, share her wish experience and speak on behalf of the Foundation.

The mission of the Make-A-Wish Foundation is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. The Metro New York chapter, which serves Nassau County, Long Island and the five boroughs of New York City, has granted the wishes of more than 5,200 children since it was founded in 1983. In fiscal year 2003, the chapter granted 460 wishes to local children and hosted another 180 from Make-A-Wish chapters around the world whose wishes involve travel to New York City. This equates to one wish every 14 hours, making Metro New York one of the largest chapters in the national network of 75 chapters across the country. For more information, visit www.metrony.wish.org
